Animals really touch my heart. People intrigue me. It is the spirit within, the life that I'm after. Their story, personality, energy and essence challenges me. It's not enough to just get a likeness, although that is important too. It is crucial to get the essence and mood of the person or animal to create a great portrait. I strive for my appreciation and sensitivity of each subject to be evident in my art. Art can be a beautiful means of communication, and I hope to create work that honors that expression.
